Fall Burndown Herbicide Applications
Don Lamb, a soybean farmer near Lebanon, Indiana, saw firsthand the value of a fall burndown herbicide application when one portion of a field missed the application and significant weed populations emerged. Lamb says the untreated marestail likely reduced yield in that portion of the field by 5 bushels per acre. He recommends fall burndown applications to manage difficult weed populations, including resistant weeds. Better weed control helps crops deliver on their yield potential and reduces the weed seed bank for the following season.
